Message from the principal.........

This year we have three goals at the forefront of all we do here at Cassie Pennington Junior High School. Our goals are to maintain 95% attendance rate, reduce the number of discipline referrals by 25%, and have 85% of our students pass the Biology I and Algebra I state exams.

Our students cannot learn if they are not present, so I encourage all of our parents to make sure that their child is at school on time daily. We have seen a decline in discipline referrals and hope to see this trend continue during the third and fourth nine weeks. However, this trend will only continue with the support of our parents. Please talk with your child about the importance of being on his/her best behavior at school.

Finally, we are working daily to prepare our students for the two state exams that they must pass before they graduate from high school. After school tutoring is offered each week to achieve this goal, and I hope that parents will help us maintain high enrollments in these sessions to better prepare our students for testing in April.  In addition to tutoring, we have developed and are constantly revising our pacing guides to better organize instruction in all of our classes.

We will continue our efforts to achieve our 2008-2009 goals. I encourage each of you to stop by Pennington, talk with your child’s teachers, and help us make this year a successful one for all of the students of Pennington.
