WHICH PRESIDENT NEVER MARRIED?

The Quest Gifted Class at Lockard Elementary is made up of 2nd-8th grade intellectually gifted students.  There are currently 27 students in the program at Lockard.  The teacher is Mrs. Cindy Roberts.  This is her 7th year at Lockard.  We study a wide variety of topics in our classroom.  We hope you enjoy exploring our page.

We are proud of our artwork which can be seen by logging on to:  www.artsonia.com and finding the Lockard page.  Our artwork is under 2006-2007.  Here are our watercolor paintings of toucans.

Right now we are studying owls.  We have learned so many interesting facts about owls.  Dr. Rush came to our class and dissected real owl pellets with us.  We found lots of bones, teeth, fur, and feathers in the pellets.  We have made some interesting owl art projects, too.  We still have lots more to do and learn with our owl project.

An 8th grader dissecting her owl pellet.

7th graders had a good time.

5th grade scientists!

A 2nd grader is hard at work on her dissection.

Usually our class is run through five different centers.  They are Art, Math, Science, Research, and Brain Teasers.  Each student spends one hour per week at each of the five centers.

One of the activities that the Quest Class students compete in is the Quizzles Club.  There are 100 quizzle questions in all.  The students start with number one and research the answers all the way to 100!  It takes a long, long time to find the answers to these questions.  The following students have found ALL ONE HUNDRED!  Congratulations!  You are super researchers!

One neat activity we did this year was to plant seeds in cotton inside a glove.  We watered the cotton ball and hung the gloves in the window.  They sprouted!  It was really cool and interesting to watch them grow.  Here is a photo of our garden gloves.

In the hall you can see our thesaurus garden.  We created this when we learned how to use a thesaurus at the Research Center.

You might want to check out our "Crazy Couplets on a Weird Beard".  We were studying types of poetry and created these crazy couplets at the Brain Teaser Center.

Visit our class again soon through our webpage.  We will be adding photos every month.  You can also email us.  We would love to hear from you!
