Parental Involvement
NCLB provides for increased parental involvement in the education process such as: School Choice when your child is attending a school that is not successful or dangerous, notification that you as a parent may at any time request the certification status of your child's teachers, be informed if your child is placed in a special program, receive school/district report cards, and/or be involved in the planning and implementation of school programs funded through federal programs. One percent of the district's Title I funding must be used for Parental Involvement activities. Of this one percent total, 95% of the district's total Title I allocation set-aside for parental involvement activities at the school level. The Indianola School District uses these funds to: (1) publish and disseminate a quarterly parental newsletter and parental informational materials, (2) provide parent workshops, (3) purchase a phone calling system to improve parental contact, and (4) and support school level parental involvement plans.
